Irving, there is a conversation going on in Dave Farber's Intersting People list about IBM and Second Life. I just added a note (don't know if it will make it to the list -- Dave filters).

If you don't subscribe to the list (it's pretty interesting) I'd be happy to send you a copy of the comments -- I'm thinking of blogging about it anyway.

I find the experiments very interesting. I view them as large scale social settings for the development of idealistic visions of our world. Those visions, good or bad, are only an image of what we expect from them. With so many people looking at those experiments. Do you see the traditional users going away, and the new community scaring the heavy-users? Is the "silly" on those concepts useful to advance in our understanding on how the concepts virtual, community and collaboration can help us advance our society and lives?
